Making noise at NSW Parliament House
Musicians Brian Cadd, Glenn Shorrock, Ian Moss, Harry Vanda and Shannon Noll rocked up to the New South Wales Parliament House yesterday (Wednesday September 30th) to show their continued support for Australian musicians who have fallen on hard times.
Long-time supporter of the music industry, Minister Assisting the Premier on The Arts, Virginiia Judge hosted the annual Music In The House luncheon to raise money for Support Act Limited, an organization aimed to help musicians.
Ms Judge said Support Act was formed as a registered charity in 1997 by a group of concerned music industry veterans who wanted to help struggling musicians: “Musicians play a pivotal role in giving our communities a voice and building community identity and cohesion.”
“Not everyone in the music industry is lucky enough to become a household name and in an uncertain environment Support Act is a vital safety net for musicians in need of assistance.”
Ms Judge also congratulated Australian rock legend Richard Clapton with this year’s Excellence in Community Support Award for his continued charitable work for the industry.
The New South Wales State Government supports a range of strategies to develop and sustain the music industry through live music forums to build on long term strategies including the removal of Place Of Public Entertainment (POPE) regulations to revive the live music industry.
